The Red Line is steadily taking shape, especially with the installation of the ART guideway near the Pelita Heights area. The alignment for the Red Line will mostly be elevated. To date, eight pier caps for the ART guideway have been successfully installed, with the ninth scheduled for installation soon. With a total of eight elevated ART stations, the Red Line of the KUTS project will cover a distance of 12 km, between Kuching Sentral and the Neu Pendington area. The development of the Red Line has now shifted into full gear with works at multiple locations along the alignment. Joining the Ministry of Transport Sarawak’s exhibition booth, we had the opportunity to share with visitors our plans to decarbonise the public transport system through our zero-emission hydrogen-powered ART vehicles and feeder buses for the KUTS project
Minister for Transport Sarawak, the Honourable Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, together with his Deputy Minister, the Honourable Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, visited the Rembus ART Depot and ART guideways in Kota Samarahan, as well as the SM07 Station at the "Northbank" in Kuching today to observe the progress of the KUTS project. Construction works on the KUTS project’s Blue Line (Package 1) are progressing steadily, with most of the guideways and frames of the ART stations now visibly taking shape. Sarawak Metro together with its contractors remain committed to achieving the target of commencing the ART service by the fourth quarter of 2026

Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus visited us at our Corporate Office with the 80 undergraduate students from the university’s Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science our journey to modernise the public transport system, through the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project. On hand to brief the students were our project engineer Farid Hamizan Roslan, engineer Syammil Mohd Ishak, and engineer Nur Nafisa Abdullah, who provided insights on the signalling and traffic control systems, as well as the ongoing development of the KUTS project. We were honoured to host Ir. Sarawak Metro welcomed a delegation from Toyota, consisting of representatives from its Japan, Thailand and Malaysia offices. We shared about our experience in the management and maintenance of hydrogen-powered buses while learning more about Toyota’s journey in exploring opportunities to expand its production of various hydrogen-powered vehicles.
